Why I became a dog trainer?
As a child, I was drawn to
shows like Rin Tin Tin, Lassie and Old Yeller.
These dogs seemed to possess good manners and
wisdom far beyond anything we could imagine. It
is no wonder we ended up believing dogs possessed
an uncanny sense of what is needed to be done
under any circumstance. The truth is all of these
dogs were trained. Very well trained.
After adopting one dog in particular, I realized
all dogs were not created equal.
Training was not as cut and dry as I thought. I
found myself becoming more and more interested in
how training a dog was accomplished. After
several years of working with trainers, attending
seminars, reading books, working with rescue dogs
and finally schooling, I found the answer. The
education I received at the Karen Pryor Academy
reinforced my belief in teaching dogs through
positive reinforcement. Whispering Springs Dog
Training was born from my love of animals and my
sincere desire to watch dogs blossom into
wonderful pets. I look forward to sharing my
training techniques with you and your dog.
